At the end of October, we went to see our youngest daughter graduate from Artillery School at Ft Sills, Army Base. I had never heard of anyone going to Oklahoma for vacation, and it wasn’t on my bucket list, but it turned out to be a great vacation.
We make hobby travel videos and try to point out accessibility when we see it. Our son who uses a wheelchair wasn’t with us for this journey, but he will be able to see this video on his Tobii Dynavox eye gaze device.
We have three videos on this area. Here is the link to our first video. If you like our videos please subscribe to be notified of the next two that will be posted in December.
I'm going in December, for the first time, and having a hard time finding an accessible taxi/van. Even reach out to Wheel The World w/out much luck. Any ideas? TIA.
I am a paraplegic male—with reasonable upper body strength—looking for suggestions to assist with transfers on and off of a commode in a hotel room during travel. My issue is the commodes are too low, and the grab bar on the wall is too high, both making it hazardous/impossible to get adequate “lift†to transfer on and off of the commode. Have any of you experienced this problem? I’ve thought about getting a 3†raised commode seat that could be used in hotels during travel, but it would be big and cumbersome—plus stability is questionable??? Do you have any other recommended solutions? Thanks for your helpful suggestions!Â
