Travel between Rome and Florence?

Considering train, which is the least expensive and fastest option, but am traveling with my wife and collectively we have 5 pieces of luggage. Experience w/ Italian/french train stations previously proved that local station staff and will facilitate boarding and seating, but space is very limited for baggage storage (above the seat space is nominal, and end of train car where there is a small open area for all passengers to place their baggage is small); security for baggage is non-existent unless you are literally standing on top of your property. Theft is too frequent to ignore this problem. If we were traveling light, I would have no problem with the train option.

So what other options are there? Anyone know? I can fly (this involves, taxi to airport - plane - taxi to hotel + $$ + time) or hire a driver which appears to amount to $800+ one-way. Lastly, rent a car (I am not in wheelchair, but driving in Italian cities for a 78 yr. old is not optimal).

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Recommendations of a driver or service more economical?

Lake Front in New England

We are looking for a lake front property that is accessible for someone in a scooter.

My scooter friend is able to walk about 15 steps. No stairs.

There needs to be a roll in shower and the ability to get near to the lake, not perched on a hill with a frightening slide to the water. We have been looking for too many years. Willing to travel from Maine to New Jersey.

A kitchen would be great, but the necessity is the fridge.

Please, if you know of anything, please post. Thanks.
