4-Star Hotel

Penguins might be native to the Southern Hemisphere, but here in Pittsburgh they like to stay at the Cambria Hotel and Suites. This downtown hotel is the Official Hotel of the Pittsburgh Penguins and is located next door to the Penguins home turf – the PPG Paints Arena. The all-suites property boasts rooms that are 25-percent larger than standard hotel rooms. They have separate living and work areas, refrigerator, microwave, two HD flat panel TVs and a Keurig coffee maker.

Accessible rooms are available across a number of categories – king, double queen and one-bedroom kings and include accessible tubs or roll-in showers.

4-Star Hotel

You don’t always have to be in the city center to find good hotel options. The Crowne Plaza Hotel and Suites Pittsburgh South is located adjacent to South Hills Village Mall and just a quarter of a mile from the Light Rail transit. The hotel has a new restaurant and bar and offers free, upgraded Wifi and free parking (one of the perks of being outside the city center).

Entrance to the hotel is via a ramp, with ramp access to the bar/lounge and restaurant. The lift is located close to the accessible guest rooms. There are two rooms with roll-in showers and 12 with grab bars. In addition, there are three rooms with communications features.

The wheelchair-accessible rooms have accessible door locks, heating, cooling and light controls, adequate clear turning space in the bathrooms (doors open outwards) and accessible bathroom controls. Portable bathtub seats are available as are raised toilets with grab bars.

The hearing-accessible rooms have a telephone with amplifier or TDD and knock lights. There are visual alarms or alerts in guest rooms, hallways and public areas.

The hotel also offers braille on lifts and in public areas. Menus in the restaurant are available in braille or available reader, as well as in 14pt print.
